Gorgeous Green
Generally on the days that I am not styling a client or pulling from stores, I work out. Because I am a mother of two, I rarely have an opportunity to get back home to change into a cute outfit. You will typically find me in my workout clothes at the market, cooking and going from one activity to another. And when I get home from a day of styling, I almost always throw on my active wear pieces.
There is no reason one shouldn't be able to look comfortable and stylish in a great active wear outfit. If you are going to workout then you may as well show off that bod' in the most deserving and chic way possible.
I seriously have no problem splurging on my work out gear as it not only has to perform, allowing my body flexibility and breathability, but it also has to be of excellent quality, durability and if it can knock off a few inches all around, then I'll take that too!
One brand in particular that I like would be Lululemon. This brand not only uses the most flattering fabrications but it has the cutest layering pieces for pre and post workout dressing. You should also check out their "Cool Racer Back Tank" which is light weight, flattering and quite reasonable in price. There are often multiple on trend colors to select from as well as your basic neutrals such as white, black and grey. I wear this tank to work out and have also worn it back to a pair of shorts or under a tailored jacket with slacks.
Other active wear brands I am loving are: Dino, Splits59, Adidas by Stella McCartney and Hard Tail.
Hence its name, the Trench Coat was worn by officers in both the British and French military during World War 1. This is an essential piece and every man; woman and lap dog should have one, if not two!
It is one of the most versatile pieces. Wear it down with a pair of jeans, T, Chucks or Sperry Top- Siders. Dress is up with a pair of slacks, blouse, pearls and heels. Or sex it up with a shift dress and Stilettos.
Start with the traditional khaki or camel color way but if you dare to make a bit more of a statement, I adore an off white trench accented with gold hardware or bound in a contrasting color. I am also a huge fan of black and navy. If you like to wear color, try red.
I am lucky enough to own a white and midnight navy leather trench. I have had them for years and still get complimented on them every time I wear them.
The trench is a perfect piece of outerwear as it is very transitional and can be worn in both the spring and the fall, and if you live in a moderate climate like San Francisco, it can be worn throughout the year.
If you can splurge on this classic Coco Chanel purse then do it! Unlike some of Coco Chanel's other influential trends, this is one that can hardly be duplicated. This is the real deal and even a good knock off won't cut it... but if a good knock off is all that you can afford... then that works for me too!
Some other classics that Coco Chanel accomplished would be the little black dress, strands of pearls, black-tip ballet flats, tweed jackets, pants for women and anything nautical. Chanel was all about a woman being sexy but remaining comfortable. Hello... I couldn't ask for a better closet girls!!
Coco Chanel's iconic quilted black leather handbag is one that will never "go out of fashion" so do me a favor and please put it on your Essential Closet List... is should be right up there with a pair of pearl earings and a classic white shirt!
Almost every woman I style on the West Coast, when asked, "If you could personify a celebrity, who would it be?", I am told Jennifer Aniston.
It really is no surprise to me at all that this woman is iconic. Jennifer Aniston is the absolute embodiment of Casual Chic.
Now let's get to work...try the following easy and simple to put together Jennifer Aniston looks:
In short, keep your looks clean and effortless. Stick to neutral colors. Although Jen's color pallet is typically monochromatic, she never looks lackluster. Jen consistently wears neutral hues because they are elegant and chic. Keep your looks uncomplicated and stay clear of bold colors, prints and embellishments.
Jen's style is all about fit, cut and quality. If you have good body then flaunt it! Wear slimming sheath dresses, skinny pants and skirts which will not only elongate your body and show off your frame but you will be sexy and classy all at the same time too!
Thank you Pantone for providing us with this vibrant and delicious Spring 2012 color! And the designers did it right by color blocking it with flesh tones. It is spectacular!
OK my lovely ladies, yellow of all shades has been spotted on just about every single Spring 2012 runway! I realize how daunting this concept may be but I say embrace it... it's going to be a tough one to avoid!
Now not everyone can wear yellow from head to toe but that's all right... who said you had to? My suggestion would be to pick up a couple of yellow accessories like a great clutch or spring coat. If your budget is tight, don't splurge on the high-end designers because I can assure you stores such as Zara, The GAP and H & M will be carrying a lot of it. This is most definitely going to be a short lived trend but a fun one so go with it.
I personally adore a yellow/neutral combo, which helps tone things down, and make the overall look more sophisticated. Try pairing a nude tone camisole with a bright yellow cardigan and midnight blue denims... Tres chic!
For as long as I can remember, I have always owned a nude pair of heels. I was beyond happy when nudes of all styles and materials started to hit the stores. Patent pumps to flats, everyone's doing it!
A nude shoe can neutralize any look and therefore wearing a loud color or bold print isn't so ridiculous when you pair it with a nude shoe. You also keep your look clean and you don't compartmentalize your body by breaking it up into multiple parts.
A nude shoe can elongate your legs and in turn make you look slimmer... and that alone should be appealing!
So I encourage each of you to go out and buy yourself a good pair of nude stilettos. I am always the first one to encourage a bit of bargain shopping but I am going to demand that you invest as these shoes are going to have to last you a lifetime. You will use them often and this trend isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Knowing your body will enable you to dress it appropriately. Once you know what kind of shape you are, you will learn how to hide its flaws and bring attention to all the right places.
So which are you?
Ruler:
A straight shape from top to bottom. Narrow hips and a small chest. The ruler is waif like and thin,
Hourglass:
This is the shape that many women desire to be. Think Barbie! Women with an hourglass shape have a
perfectly proportioned shape on the top as well as the bottom with a well-defined waist.
Triangle or Pear Shape:
These women have small shoulders, bust and waist. Their hips, bottoms and thighs tend to be heavier set.
Apple:
Apple shaped girls are defined by curves and their width. Characteristics are a full bust, waist, and upper back and are full around the middle. Apples do have the most amazing legs. For you it's all about accentuating the positives - like your gorgeous legs and bringing balance to your overall shape. Create a waist with wrap around tops & dresses, hip belts and tailored nipped in waist jackets.
Darker colors and basic fabrics on top can help minimize and create a slim torso. Necklines that will flatter your figure are v-neck, square neck and low-scooped neckline. Never wear a neckline up to your chin with cut away arms.
Inverted Triangle:
A full bust and hips, although the Inverted Triangle shaped woman can frequently be bigger on the top than
the bottom.
